February Presidency Message

We are blessed to have the restoration of the gospel in our day, including the very
power of God in the form of the priesthood. As members of the church, we have
all been recipients of various priesthood blessings for which we are very
grateful. Often I feel overwhelmed by my blessings, and find myself feeling
indebted to our Father in Heaven and the Savior. I cannot repay them, and must
be content to show my gratitude by following the commandments as the scriptures
teach. As we reflect upon the blessings of the priesthood, we can also express
gratitude by showing our faith as we support and sustain the priesthood bearers
about us
This month’s Relief Society presidency message is entitled, "Women and the
Priesthood", which can be found on LDS.org, originally from a manual
called The Latter-day Saint Woman, Part A. In this lesson we are taught,
"Just as everyone in the Church benefits from the priesthood, so everyone
is responsible for honoring and sustaining that priesthood." The attitude
of women toward the priesthood can greatly influence the priesthood holders
around us to faithfully fulfill their duties, as well as help families
appreciate the spiritual nature of the priesthood power of God.
I am grateful for this perspective offered by President Monson: "Holders
of the priesthood may not necessarily be eloquent in their speech. They may not
hold advanced degrees in difficult fields of study. They may very well be men
of humble means. But God is no respecter of persons and He will sustain His
servants in righteousness as they avoid the evils of our day and live lives of
virtue and purity". (President Monson, May 2009 Ensign). As we sustain
priesthood bearers, we follow the very example of our loving Father in Heaven. Janee
