October Presidency Message

This past month each of was given a wonderful blessing, to hear from our General Relief Society Presidency. Each sister and our loving Prophet gave wonderful messages to help inspire each of us. If you were unable to hear the messages, they are now available online (please see link on left sidebar). I encourage each of you to read or listen to the articles. They truly are inspired.

We are choice spirit daughters of God. By learning who we are and conversing with our Heavenly Father we know our responsibility as women. We are asked to do many things. Our most important role is to nurture children. Along with that role, we strengthen our home and family. In order to do this our testimonies must be strong. We need to be continually enriched and edified by constantly studying the scriptures, attending the temple, doing our family history work, and serving others. As we are obedient and do these things we cannot forget the importance of communicating with our Heavenly Father and asking for the guidance of the Spirit. The spirit is our guide. He will lead us to all things which are good.

Another role we have as sisters in Relief Society is our call to serve as a visiting teacher. Sisters are entrusted to our care. Blessings come to not only that sister but to her family and our own. It is not always easy to find ways to help and befriend a sister. We need to continue to show our love and seek guidance from the spirit on a regular basis. The Lord knows each persons individual needs. The monthly Visiting Teaching message is not always sufficient. Sometimes there’s a separate message that’s needed or the use of our time and talents might be more needful. The spirit is the guide to help us decide what is necessary. When a letter is the only form of contact for a sister, please seek guidance as to what that sister needs to hear. She can still feel your love and the love of our Savior through a letter. I love President Monson’s definition to Charity Never Faileth (our Relief Society Motto). It is: “love in action and it’s needed everywhere”. Please show your love for the sisters you visit. As we do the things we’ve been counseled to do and follow our Prophet, I know blessings will be bestowed upon more than the one.
